Abstract

Organizational culture is a critical factor in explaining the performance and effectiveness of higher education institutions, necessitating precise measurement and comparison. This study aimed to assess and explain significant differences in the organizational culture dimensions of Birjand University and Kabul University using Denison’s (2000) model. The research employed a quantitative, comparative design. Data were collected through the distribution of the standardized Denison questionnaire among a sample of faculty members and staff from both universities. Descriptive and inferential analyses, including independent-samples t-tests, were conducted to examine the data. Findings revealed significant differences in the organizational culture dimension scores between the two universities. Specifically, Birjand University scored higher in the mission (M = 3.82) and adaptability (M = 3.74) components compared to Kabul University (mission M = 3.21; adaptability M = 3.09). Conversely, Kabul University demonstrated higher scores in consistency (M = 3.65) and involvement (M = 3.58) than Birjand University (consistency M = 3.33; involvement M = 3.41). These results underscore the necessity for managerial attention to specific organizational culture dimensions within each academic context.
